We were visiting some close friends this past weekend. We always have sweet fellowship.
While I was catching up with our friends, our two middle girls were playing in the room with their seven year old. After a while, our seven year old popped her head around the corner with a couple stuffed animals and said, "Look what she just gave me!"
She was holding up a stuffed squirrel and a pink owl with moon-blinked eyes. I made sure this was an OK transaction. The parents assured me this was fine. I did not want to be a part of a child obtaining toys via some sort of extortion, or, at least coercion.
Before you know it, this young lady was loading my girls up with a hefty assortment of play horses, dolls, and just plain good stuff.
I think the giver was having as much fun as my girls who were having either a late birthday, or a real early one. I think my girls even learned about giving good stuff to people. I wonder if this generous girl knows how she will be blessed.
It's not just people whom we bless when we give things to people. We also bless our Savior in heaven.
Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ - Matt. 25:40
How can we be like this 7 year old? How can we bless our Savior who gave us (and anyone who accepts it) eternal life and life on earth in abundance? Just give it away - money, time, food, shelter, clothing.... plastic horses.
